Athens Therapy Co-op
Welcome to Athens Therapy Co-op. We are the home of private practices for various local therapists who want to share office space and expenses so they can focus on what's really important: their clients. Many of our therapists have honed their therapeutic skills at non-profit or government agencies and want to continue their work there while also seeing clients in private practice. Others travel to see clients in the community, but need a place to host meetings or facilitate group therapy. Despite the differences in the structure of their practices, all our therapists have one thing in common: their commitment to helping their clients.
In 2015 Leslie Schwartz and Leigh Ellen Magness founded Athens Center for Counseling and Play Therapy. In 2017, recognizing a need in the community, Leslie and Leigh Ellen created Athens Therapy Co-op as an extension of Athens Center for Counseling and Play Therapy. The co-op is a professional home for therapists who want to practice part-time. Athens Therapy Co-op creates an environment where therapists can see clients with a variety of backgrounds and needs while pooling resources and sharing referrals. This expansion offers greater opportunity for meeting the community's needs since clients have access to therapists at both the main ACCPT location and the new co-op location. Each therapist who operates out of the co-op maintains their own practice and liability insurance.
