In 2015 Leslie Schwartz and Leigh Ellen Magness founded Athens Center for Counseling and Play Therapy. In 2017, recognizing a need in the community, Leslie and Leigh Ellen created Athens Therapy Co-op as an extension of Athens Center for Counseling and Play Therapy. The co-op is a professional home for therapists who want to practice part-time. Athens Therapy Co-op creates an environment where therapists can see clients with a variety of backgrounds and needs while pooling resources and sharing referrals. This expansion offers greater opportunity for meeting the community's needs since clients have access to therapists at both the main ACCPT location and the new co-op location. Therapists operating out of the co-op maintain their own practice and liability insurance.
