Madison Tomberlin, Intern
Hello! My name is Madison Tomberlin, BSW and I am in my specialization year of the Master of Social Work program at the University of Georgia. I graduated with my Bachelor of Social Work and a minor in Criminal Justice in Spring of 2025 to begin my journey of clinical work in the mental health field. I love working with children and their families, and find it quite fascinating to work within their form of communication and language expression as it differs from those of adults. I have a particular interest in working with children and families who have experienced trauma and who are navigating complex issues. My passion is being there to uplift and encourage during all moments of life: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I believe in servicing clients from a holistic perspective and taking into account all aspects of their human experience, not just the struggles of mental health. I also work using a strengths based perspective and have a client centered approach. I have trained in Psychological First Aid (PFA) and Skills for Psychological Recovery (SPR), and I am currently training in various therapeutic modalities and forms of interventions. I have a multitude of
experience in crisis work, individual support sessions, and conflict management.
In my free time, I enjoy swimming, thrifting, finding new recipes, weekend trips with my significant other, and lounging on the porch with my kitty cat, Momo. I am so grateful to be joining Athens Therapy Co-op as an intern therapist this year and look forward to cultivating wonderful professional relationships with the children and families I work with to support them in the most effective way possible!
