Beth Ricks (formerly Beth Porter)
Beth (Porter) Ricks, EdS, LPC, NCC
Beth has a heart for working with children and their families to help them with everything from day-to-day struggles to some of life's most difficult circumstances. She was an elementary school counselor for over thirty years in Clarke, Walton and Oconee County Schools. She has recently retired but continues working in local schools with students who have experienced some sort of trauma. Through her career in education, Beth has worked with thousands of children assisting with their social, emotional, developmental, and learning needs. She has also been seeing clients and serving families through private practice for seven years through the Co-Op with Athens Center for Counseling and Play Therapy. She uses a variety of play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in her counseling sessions. Beth has also proven successful at working with parents and guardians through parenting classes, individual counseling, and parent coaching.
