Melissa Jones

Choosing the right therapist is important. It’s a relationship unlike any other. Each therapist utilizes their own unique approach to therapy and brings their own therapeutic style to the process. Therapists are people, just like you. Learn more about Melissa below:
Melissa is a Licensed Social Worker, with Advanced Certification in Palliative Care, certified in Thanatology, Telemental Health & Motivational Interviewing. She is Trauma-Informed, Compassion-Focused, and Perinatal Mood Disorder Trained. She utilizes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Interpersonal and Social Rhythm informed therapy. She earned a Bachelor’s from The University of Georgia in 2000, a Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Georgia in 2006, and obtained her LMSW in 2009.  She is obtaining advanced licensure for which she is required to work for a set period of time under supervision. She receives clinical supervision from Laura Silverman, LCSW. She prefers working with clients by utilizing Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and the Family Systems models of treatment.
Melissa finds joy in helping to ease the psychological and social burdens for those suffering from serious medical conditions, and for their family caregivers. This includes providing support & a place to process feelings that come up through the conception & fertility journey. Melissa has experience helping countless women with pre, perinatal, & postpartum concerns as well. She works with clients pre & post-surgery, & has extensive experience working with veterans & the elderly. Whether you or your loved one have been struggling for years with a chronic medical condition, or experiencing anxiety & depression from a new diagnosis, she can help you.
She enjoys working with people of all races, religions, colors, and ethnicities; as well as with persons of all sexual identities and all gender identities.
