Lisa Lewis, Intern
Lisa Lewis, Counseling Intern (she/her/hers)
After more than 20 years of self-reflection and growth, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling through the University of the Cumberlands. This decision was made, in part, because my own life had been touched by several mental health issues including anxiety, depression, and grief. I know firsthand that genuine, empathic support can be a catalyst for change. Counseling, I believe, can benefit everyone, and those who seek it are immensely courageous.
In addition to being a graduate student and intern, I strive to make space for yoga, meditation, cycling, and appreciating the wisdom and beauty of nature. As the mother of a 20-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son, I am well-versed in parenting and life transitions, and have an interest in helping others navigate relationships, meaningful work, and mid-life issues. Having spent the past several years working with adolescents, I hope to continue supporting this population as well as anyone struggling with anxiety, depression, or grief. I am excited to be interning with Athens Therapy Co-op through April of 2023.
Please note: insurance companies do not cover sessions with pre-licensed interns, so no insurance will be billed. Sessions with interns are $40.
