Kara Parker, LCSW
Kara (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience in the treatment of substance use disorders and mental health. She is passionate about working with individuals struggling with anxiety, people-pleasing, body image, depression, codependence, and addiction.
Kara was educated at Sewanee: The University of the South, The University of Georgia School of Social Work, and she spent two years in research at Yale University in the Child Study Center. In addition to formal education and research experience, she draws from her work in the residential and outpatient addiction field for many years, community mental health, working with and training others to work with survivors of sexual assault, traveling with medical outreach to Haiti and Swaziland, clinical supervision, and investing in her own therapeutic process over the years.
In her practice, she provides a safe, compassionate space where clients can gain clarity, connect with inner knowing, and begin living authentically from the inside out. She aims to empower clients to find what feels honest, true, and joyful for them. Kara's work integrates aspects of attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, and she aligns herself with Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating principles.
