Haley Waters, Intern
Hi! My name is Haley Waters and I am a second-year Master of Family Therapy student at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia. I completed my undergraduate studies several years ago in child and family development with a concentration in child life studies. It was during this time in undergrad that I found my passion for supporting children and families during the good, the bad, and all the times in between.
I love working with children and families and I am very grateful to be joining Athens Play as an intern this year! I have particular interest and extensive experience in working with children and families experiencing childhood chronic illness, grief and loss, as well as those with autism diagnoses. I gained this experience throughout undergrad, in my work as a preschool teacher, and through my 14 years as a hospice volunteer. As a current Children’s Health Care of Atlanta (CHOA) Rural Family Therapy Scholar, I am actively receiving specialized training in working with children and families with autism diagnoses and I look forward to continuing to learn more every day so that I can best support the children and families that I work with.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband finding the best coffee shops, hanging out with our 3 cats, exploring nature, and serving in the worship arts team and children’s ministries at our local church. I look forward to meeting you and your family!
