Evan Gail Carter (she/her/hers)

I received a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College in 2021 and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Georgia in 2014. Prior to graduate school, I was a program director for children, youth, and families, which deepened my passion for fostering holistic wellness in the lives of those with whom I worked and kickstarted my counseling journey. I am currently on track to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), while also working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist (R-PT). As a therapist, my primary experience is working with children, teens, young adults, and families with a range of concerns, such as:
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Adjustment to change
  • ADHD
  • Grief & loss
  • Trauma & PTSD/C-PTSD
  • Low self-esteem/self-concept
  • Sexuality concerns
  • Relationship & family issues
I believe in an eclectic approach to therapy so that the unique needs of each client can be addressed in an individualized and collaborative way. Additionally, the interventions in which I have the most experience include play therapy, expressive therapies, culturally sensitive and feminist therapy, person-centered, trauma-focused, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and strenghth-based therapy. Regarding my values as a counselor, I believe in the inherent dignity and worth of every human being, and I recognize my responsibility as therapist, ally, and advocate in the lives of my clients. I am actively anti-racist, an intersectional feminist, and fully LGBTQIA+ affirming; I also understand I am not perfect, and it is my duty to continue educating myself in order to be culturally competent.

On a personal note, I am a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan, I love to travel, I have one four-legged child - a 135 pound black lab named Archie, and I love using my creative energy on new recipes in the kitchen. I’m a Georgia-native, but I’m currently living in Boston, Massachusetts, where you don’t hear “y’all” nearly as much, but you also don’t have to swat as many gnats.

I am seeing individual clients virtually for a fee of $80 per session, and I am currently taking new clients. Please fill out the form below to inquire about beginning therapy, or you can reach me directly at egc.therapy@gmail.com
