Carolina Butler, Intern
Hi there! My name is Carolina, (she/her) - like the states! I am a second year Masters of Social Work student at the University of Georgia. My focus is in clinical mental health of children and adolescents, and I am particularly interested in Expressive Arts and Play Therapy. I graduated from UGA with my undergraduate degree in sociology and have considered myself a local Athenian ever since! I am thrilled to continue developing a trauma-informed, evidence and strengths-based approach to mental health counseling as an intern ay Athens Center for Play Therapy this year. I have experience in Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, child advocacy, crisis counseling, youth empowerment and child development, and behavioral health and substance use research. I have worked with kids navigating neurodivergence, traumatic experiences, physical and cognitive disabilities, grief and loss, and the foster care system.
I have a passion for the imagination and often incorporate artistic expression into my services. I value safety, creativity, individuality, cultural humility, and allyship within the relationship I foster with my clients. I hope that together, we can create a space where you feel empowered to be your most authentic and resilient self. I look forward to meeting you, right where you are!
